“Recently I got married and was looking to have children. I really did not want to be a smoker while we were trying and once we had kids. I had been struggling to completely to stop smoking cigarettes for a few years. Had managed to change certain habits but was unable to take it the whole way. “I was diagnosed with insomnia, and post-traumatic stress disorder, after my brother’s tragic death. I had undergone almost two and a half years of psychology therapy, as well as regular doctor appointments. These helped me to some extent, but did not fully resolve my insomnia issue, even after taking sleep medication.  Sleep is always important, but especially important to me at the time before consulting with Paul Brickhill, because I had not had ‘proper’ sleep for a period of almost 2.5 years. The lack of sleep dramatically affected my life, resulting in failure or bad university results due to the inability to concentrate, constant muscle pain, fatigue, and anxiety, possibly increasing my depressive state.  The first session with Paul was difficult, as I could not fully relax, and I started to doubt that anyone could help me. However, with the second session, I was able to relax into a hypnotic state, thanks to Paul’s natural easy-going and supportive nature. "I was a pack-a-day smoker and wanted to quit. I had tried different methods of quitting over the years but none seemed to help me or even assist me in quitting. My smoking got to the point where I found myself making excuses for not being ready to quit. I was recommended to Paul by a friend of mine and I basically viewed hypnotherapy as a last resort for me. After leaving the first session, I was pleasantly surprised that the level of craving had diminished considerably and I felt as though I was in some control of the craving. “I have to admit that when someone suggested I go see a hypnotherapist to help quit smoking, I was skeptical. Given that willpower was not working, nor was the Government scare campaign I figured I had absolutely nothing to lose. Despite this, I really wanted to quit and booked an appointment with Paul hoping he would be the circuit-breaker that would end my habit for good.
After my first session, I started to feel a quiet confidence that I could achieve my goal. The next day was going to be the real test. Would the desire to smoke still be there or would be in control? Amazingly, I woke up to find my mindset had changed. I was intensely more focused on the benefits of being a non smoker and found it relatively easy to resist the temptation to light up. It was hard to pinpoint exactly what had happened but I knew it was all positive. Paul had somehow penetrated my subconscious and my skepticism of hypnotherapy was dissipating quickly.  I immediately began looking forward to my next session with Paul. This would only reinforce the positive outlook I was now embracing. By the time my third session was done I genuinely felt like a non smoker. Since then, I have not looked back and am feeling the benefits. I have more energy and my breathing and lung capacity has improved. November 2009: "Hey Bruce, I flew 21 hours there and another 21 back with no fear at all, and I'm a believer! It feels like a lobotomy or something it is such a turn around for me. Had a couple of panics starting in turbulence and got them right down before they took hold using the various visualisation techniqes you taught me. I am absolutely amazed - my fear has gone! Have I had the miracle cure now or is some sort of maintenance required? I am not feeling like I do need anything as I feel great - but I want it to last. September 2009: "I decided to try hypnotherapy for my "drinking habits" - it had worked briliantly for smoking (I am a non smoker now). My drinking habits were always sipping away at home at the end of the work day before I knew it a bottle would be gone,  too much when out socially, rewarding myself at weekends after gardening! and just generally it seemed to be ruling my life, being middle aged and female I was starting to think about the long term effects of my lifestyle.  After hypnotherapy I can now say I am a social drinker, have alcohol free days, I feel a lot healthier, my skin and eyes look much better and lost a bit of weight and I do more exercise (and have the energy for it).   After the  sessions I felt fantastic, energised, relaxed and very positive and am so glad I took the plunge to do it - the next 25 years are going to be great!
